Paralegal (up to 2 years fixed term contract, opportunity to progress to Trainee Solicitor)

What's the role and who are we looking for?

LCP’s Legal & Compliance Team is currently seeking a bright and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in commercial, contract and data protection law. This opportunity is open to applications from LPC graduates, GDL graduates and law degree graduates.. You will be employed on a paralegal basis and, subject to business need and successfully completing a fixed term contract of up to two years, will have the opportunity to apply for either a period of recognised training (often known as a training contract) or the solicitor apprenticeship. We are a hybrid working team with all team members regularly working from home and in both our London and Winchester offices. The successful candidate will be based in the London office but will be required to work from the Winchester office on regular team days.

What will you be doing as a paralegal at LCP?

  • Managing the onboarding of suppliers, including co-ordinating the process and liaising with the contract owner, lawyer, and the data protection and information security specialists involved
  • Reviewing and drafting a range of commercial contracts with suppliers, including suppliers of facilities services, events contracts and software
  • Helping to develop and maintain policies and procedures for the management of suppliers and maintaining a database of supplier contracts
  • Assisting in the review of NDAs and release letters with suppliers, clients and other third parties
  • Conducting legal research for the team and managing data/records
  • Assisting with policies and procedures, covering areas such as HR, corporate responsibility and compliance
  • Assisting with a wide range of other legal, risk and compliance matters affecting the firm, including intellectual property rights and data protection law
  • Providing general support and assistance to other lawyers within the team and the firm’s data protection specialist

What skills and qualities are we looking for?                 

  • Qualifying law degree at 2.1 or above or equivalent (electives in commercial law desirable)
  • A can-do attitude with excellent communication skills and a friendly and outgoing personality
  • Strong negotiation skills with both legal and commercial issues
  • Excellent working knowledge Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise a fluctuating workload
  • The ability to work under your own initiative as well as part of a team

Please note that an assessment day will be held at LCP’s London office on either Monday 19th June 2023 or Monday 26th June 2023. Please ensure you are available to attend on at least one of these dates. The successful candidate will start at LCP in September 2023.
