Pensions Research - Knowledge Management
Location – London or Winchester
Working pattern - this is a full-time role that can be undertaken on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 2 days per week office attendance.
At LCP we love what we do, and it shows. We help our clients make good decisions based on insightful analysis, industry expertise, and game-changing technology. Working across a wide range of sectors, including pensions and benefits, investments, insurance, energy, health, sports, and data analytics, we help our clients navigate complexity in order to take the action that matters.
What’s the role and who are we looking for?
Pensions Research is looking for an enthusiastic teammate who will see themselves as a gatherer and keeper of pensions knowledge, acting for the benefit of those who need to analyse such knowledge and those who need to be kept informed of developments. To be successful, you will enjoy building and operating knowledge management systems and be willing to answer all sorts of information requests. Whilst you will work primarily within the Pensions Research team, you are likely to become much more widely known within the business.
What will you be doing?
This is a varied and wide-ranging position which will include the following:
Signing up for web notifications
You’ll need to sign up to as many alerting mechanisms that are available across the sites we need to monitor. Keeping an eye on your inbox, you’ll be passing information on to relevant stakeholders in a suitable manner, those developments that are of potential interest. Sources for news include TPR, DWP, HMRC, FCA, other government departments and agencies, legal reporting and other general pension news outlets.
In addition, we are intending to use a web-searching tool that scans websites and webpages for signs of changes and reports back to the user when it finds them. You will need to populate, calibrate and use this tool so that when it reports a change you can analyse it for significance, and pass on in suitable format to relevant stakeholders, the change that has been made. This tool will be used on a daily basis.
You will also need to develop a “future timeline” in which you record what is likely to emerge over the coming months and use this as a prompt to look yourself as necessary.
SharePoint management
Pensions Research has a well-established collection of documents, mainly in Word, arranged in a secure area on Connect (LCP’s implementation of SharePoint) and you will need familiarity with SharePoint functionality so that you can assist in the management and display of these documents, including loading latest editions of these documents, all the time appreciative of the need to operate within protocols so that the collection remains secure and operates version control.
You will also be expected to assist other areas of the business with their document collections and display, including some of the various internal committees and other interested groups, with an interest in, and willingness to become involved in, wider initiatives in this area.
Statistics capture and display
Pensions Research maintains a collection of pensions-related statistics which are displayed to the firm through Excel sheets but can also involve populating other file formats capable of being read by specialist LCP Excel functions. Many of these statistics are extremely important to the work that LCP does across several departments. The capture of such statistics is through a mixture of automated and manual methods. You’ll need to keep an eye out for when these statistics need updating and operate through established protocols to ensure that they are updated safely and securely, communicating their update with the wider business as necessary. Liaison with Digital Services team members will be needed, as will the ability to troubleshoot when issues arise.
Other ad-hoc duties which may include:
- Keeping abreast, and maintaining a list, of relevant consultations, along with where LCP has responded, including links to those responses
- Managing other relevant lists such as LCP membership of industry committees
- Responding quickly to information requests within your area of knowledge
- Assisting with drafting Research documents as required
- Responding to requests to see newspaper articles
What skills, qualities and experience are we looking for?
- No prior pensions knowledge is needed, but you must be keen to immerse yourself in the material released by pensions-related bodies the business requires capturing
- Experience in a knowledge management role in a professional services environment is highly desirable
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft 365 suite with an emphasis on a deeper knowledge of utilising Excel and for SharePoint, to be able to safely maintain and update our internal material in accordance with internal protocols, with a curiosity to explore the functionality available in the LCP implementation
- Excellent attention to details alongside excellent communication and relationship building skills
- A team player with the ability to work autonomously, managing multiple queries coming in from several sources on different topics
- Initiative
