Resource & Delivery Manager

The Opportunity

LCP Delta is seeking a Resource & Delivery Manager to play a key role in our growing consultancy team.

Your role will involve:

The main part of this role will be to manage resource in the consulting team: 

  • Allocate people onto new projects based on their skills, expertise and interests
  • Act in a responsive manner as resource needs change and adapt resourcing in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Resource planning for potential new projects and advising on likely start dates
  • Develop resource management approaches and processes
  • Chair resourcing meetings
  • Communicate regularly with team members to ensure workloads are spread fairly and to support with team motivation
  • Close working with people outside the consulting team around resourcing requests
  • Develop an understanding of the types of work we deliver to assist with effective resource management
  • Keep the project pipeline up to date with financial and other information
  • Monitoring utilisation rates across the team
  • Feed into recruitment decisions around required skills and long-term planning

The postholder will also be responsible for a range of other delivery and operational aspects of team management: 

  • Support with project set up and close down administration
  • Coordinate contract management for new projects
  • Support with onboarding new team members, particularly around consulting processes
  • Support risk and quality management in the team
  • Take a key role in improving team processes, including providing guidance for the team
  • Input, support and lead on other operational and team delivery approaches as required

Consulting Team

LCP Delta’s Consulting team is currently around 35 people and will soon be ~50, with further growth expected in the coming years. We have delivered projects for over 100 organisations covering network companies, energy suppliers, policy makers, manufacturers, technology companies, and investors and new entrants.  We deliver a wide range of consulting offerings in the new energy space, such as: 

  • Market analysis and forecasts
  • Propositions and customer research
  • Strategy and innovation
  • Energy demand forecasting and modelling
  • Technology and product analysis
  • Modelling revenue for assets such as batteries

As the team grows, the need for effective resource management also increases. Our projects differ in size and duration but can sometimes be carried out in very tight timescales. Manging resourcing in an effective manner will help the team to ensure we continue to meet and exceed our clients’ needs. 

Example consulting assignments:

  • BEIS: The opportunity for smart heat pumps in load management / demand response.
  • European Energy Company: In-depth research on connected home companies and customer propositions in Europe to support development of its connected home strategy.
  • Major heating appliance manufacturer: Forecasting the evolution of heating markets across Europe, and how it should adapt its technology portfolio to grow its business.

Requirements and Qualifications

For this position, you will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Relevant experience, ideally working as a resource manager / planner, or an equivalent operational / project management related role
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally in a consultancy
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills, the ability to balance competing priorities and proactively manage your workload
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of people, negotiate and provide direction where required
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, make suggestions and drive improvements
  • A positive attitude and excellent problem-solving skills
