Consultant - Energy MODELLING

LCP Delta are looking for a Consultant to join our Energy Modelling team. This Germany-based role offers the opportunity to lead Energy Modelling offerings in Germany as well as collaborate with colleagues located in Edinburgh, London, Cambridge and Paris.
This is a great opportunity to:

Work with major energy industry participants to provide analysis to aid in their commercial and strategic decision making

Support direct investment into generation and storage assets by providing investors and lenders with robust modelling and analysis

Meaningfully contribute to LCP Delta’s in-house view of the evolution of policy and regulation in Germany

Assist governments in understanding the effect of their energy policies

Carry out bespoke modelling to aid decision making in a wide range of situations

Support growth of our rapidly expanding German business
Your role will involve:
- Designing solutions to the complex problems our clients in the energy industry face and present these solutions in an accessible manner
- Planning and delivering all aspects of project work, from bid writing through to final delivery
- Demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the German electricity market and the implications of energy market developments for modelling and analysis
- Speaking regularly with clients, attending industry events and closely monitoring market updates to ensure our in-house assumptions are up to date
- Running our power market models for Germany, and being able to investigate and explain outcomes
- Managing our quarterly update process, refreshing in-house views and outputs, as well as working with investors and developers on bespoke projects
- Helping develop and grow the business in new areas
- Managing junior members of the team
What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?
- Experience in the German electricity market in an analytical role and possess a degree in a numerate subject, e.g. mathematics, statistics, computing, engineering, economics or equivalent
- Proven experience in delivering revenue curve-based analysis of the German storage market, either internally at a utility/developer/fund or as part of a consultancy
- A substantial grounding in the methods involved in long term power market forecasting, as well as the ability to sense check model results
- Be comfortable leading a project team of ranging seniority and line managing junior team members to contribute to their growth and development
- Ability to demonstrate initiative in every aspect of your work and be creative in developing original solutions to problems
- Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications
- Good presentation skills and be able to explain complex issues to others
- Fluency in both German and English
- You should be highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint and have experience in using electricity market modelling software

LCP Delta is a consulting, research & technology practice, providing our clients with leading analysis, information, insights, and advice on the energy transition. Our team is filled with passionate people with expertise across the whole energy value chain.
One particular focus area of LCP Delta is our electricity market modelling. We have provided power market modelling for over a decade, both providing revenue forecasting for generation and flexibility assets whilst supporting Governments with market reforms and strategy. Our work with industry is used to support investment decisions spanning a range of technologies and to understand the impact of market and policy changes on their portfolios.
Our energy market models are built inhouse, and our modelling team includes developers, modellers and energy market experts. We typically model the development of the power sector through to 2050, simulating the granular half-hourly dispatch decisions as well as the long-term investment decisions, based on capturing the underlying fundamentals of the market.
